When deciding where to live, there is a lot to consider. How close do you want to be to shopping and nightlife? Do you want to be near the beach or parks?
Polana A
Polana A is among the safest and most central neighborhoods in Maputo. You’ll find boutiques, government offices, restaurants, bars and other establishments. It is an ideal location for those who want to be close to the hustle and bustle of that Maputo offers.
Sommershield I
Sommershield I is a very safe residencial area, particularly popular with families. Majority of the cities diplomatic representations and international organization are located here. You’ll also find parks, a few restaurants and spas. It is an ideal location for those who want to find a house with a garden.
Sommershield II
Located in extension of Sommershield I, Sommershield II offers large scale living space within driving distance to the city center. Many of the city’s international schools are located in this area. In addition, it is a short distance from the beach promenade.
Bairo Central
Bairo Cantal offers affordable living close to the city center with small tree-lined streets. Home to small shops and parks, Bairro central is a good option for those looking for a laid back lifestyle. Bairo Central is mostly residencial.
Baixa
Stay at the heart of the city in Baixa and enjoy access to an array of quaint attractions. The neighborhood is a commercial hub dotted with new and old buildings. Take a walk around the area and discover its numerous specialty stores selling mobile phones, shoes, clothes, and other items.
Baixa is also home to the Central Market, Maputo Shopping, the city’s first large mall and the train station made famous by the movie ‘Blood Diamond’. In addition, you’ll find government offices and churches in this neighborhood, including the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God.
Coop
Located between Bairro Central and Sommershield, Coop is located a bit further away from the city center. It is a calm area, offering affordable alternatives to Sommershield I and II. You will also find a few grocery stores in this area, admit it is mostly residential. Coop is also walking distance to many international NGO and UN offices.
Triumfo
Triumfo offers large living spaces close to the beach. The city of Maputo is rapidly growing in this direction, which is reflected in the growing number of shops and restaurants in the area. Distance to the city center varies, but most residents in Triumfo depends on a car to get around.
